Tom Gilmour, The Pines (August theme: Green)

Although my entries to this competition are as individual pieces, the total work actually comprises of two pieces together. The first, "The Place Beyond the Pines" I have already uploaded and symbolises life represented through young, bright pine trees. This entry, titled simply "The Pines" contains imagery of trees awaiting removal, or execution, as indicated by the numbers spray painted on them. I intentionally created a darker image to represent this. These collections of trees were located not far from each other and the symbolism of ending / a new beginning was clear to me.
