Mark Hamilton, The Love Of Kites (Single Shot 2019)

A group of flyers from all over the world, at the Adelaide International Kite Festival, with a spectacular backdrop of giant inflatable kites. This is a kite aerial photo, taken by a camera mounted on a rig, suspended from a kite line. An intervalometer is set to take a shot every 5 seconds. Framing the photo is guess work, as you set angle and orientation before you send rig up. Taken with Fuji XM-1 and 8mm Samyang fisheye lens. Aerial photos dont have to be taken from a great height to get something special. Kite aerial photography is so much harder than using a drone, however the results can be very rewarding and I get lots of exercise. There's also something special about using the "Old School" low tech of kites, no batteries, no chargers!
