Helen Xing, Tawny the Frogmouth (September theme: Things that fly)
I got up early one morning in April in Katoomba and walked to Eagle Hawk lookout where I met this fellow looking out at the Three Sisters. I took photos of him for about half an hour, edging a bit closer with each shot. This was one of my final shots where I managed to get right up close in front of him, which was really incredible as I was shooting with my 35mm, thinking that I would be taking scenic shots, not wildlife. He was really calm and allowed me to come right up. I'm thankful for the opportunity to take this photo!
