Bradley Hannon, Supercell Sunset (SINGLE SHOT 2020)

I have travelled the world to witness the most photogenic and powerful storms on the planet and I've seen some incredible sights. But this is without a doubt the most amazing storm scene I have ever witnessed in Australia. I drove 10 hours from Melbourne to be in position to intercept storms near Dubbo, NSW on this day. Severe weather was likely and there was a strong chance of capturing photogenic storms, but as the day wore on and sunset began to dominate the sky, never in my wildest dreams did I expect I would witness this extravaganza of nature's power, drama and colour. This storm is classed as a supercell because it had a persistent rotating updraft, causing it to spin and develop an incredible structure that was almost to the ground. Dust was sucked up and spun into vortexes while large hail and destructive winds destroyed trees. What an incredible scene! Trangie, Australia - Feb 18th 2020
