Roger Hyland, State Library steps-Redmond Barry (SINGLE SHOT 2024)

The library is a popular destination for street photographers but not somewhere I usually go looking. However, I was meeting some friends and had a little time to kill so went to see the Rennie Ellis exhibition which was part of Melbourne Out Loud. I love the combination of the Victorian Era neoclassical facade framing the banners for the exhibition, the statue of Redmond Barry with the deadly looking prongs on his head to ward off pigeons, and the moment with crowd, many of whom are taking photos. It is almost a 'found' tableau vivant.
