Mike Abbott, Sea Churn (January theme: Abstract)

Following a strong swell, the waves off Freshwater were churning the water and drawing sand up to the surface which gives this image so many layers of colours and textures. The lone surfer is almost hidden, but when you spot him it provides a sense of scale to the image and that’s what I love about the image - it takes time to absorb what you’re seeing.
