Keshav Chandrasekaran , Remnants (MINIMALISM - Entries close 31 July 2026)
Created during a foggy morning using a long exposure, this image explores simplicity through shape, space and atmosphere. The weather reduced the scene to its essential elements, allowing the remaining jetty pylons to emerge from the water as quiet focal points against a backdrop of soft tones and negative space. I was drawn to the contrast between the permanence of the weathered timber and the smooth, almost ethereal quality of the water created by the long exposure. By composing the pylons along a central line and preserving a large area of empty space, the image aims to evoke a sense of stillness, isolation and the passage of time. Captured with a Canon EOS M50 and Tamron 100-400mm lens at 88mm, 137 seconds, f/10 and ISO 100 using a tripod. Post-processing in Adobe Lightroom included subtle tonal balancing, minor contrast adjustments, colour refinement and cropping to strengthen the minimalist composition while preserving the natural atmosphere of the scene.
