Ashley Pope, Ramong (May theme: Texture)

‘Ramong‘ is an aerial photo of the Bluff, Victor Harbour. The name Ramong comes from the Ramindjeri language name for Encounter Bay. Ramong is also called commonly called Rosetta Head, known as Kongkengguwar by the Ramindjeri people but more commonly known as The Bluff. It is a headland located on the south coast of Fleurieu Peninsula in Encounter Bay, South Australia, within the local government area of the City of Victor Harbor. It is a prominent landmark on the coast, about 77 kilometres (48 miles) south of the state capital of Adelaide. This image is captured approx 110 meters over the front of the Bluff and approx 100 meters over the ocean, capturing a view rarely seen by the thousands of visitors each year. The textured granite provides a beautiful backdrop to the aqua waters of the Southern Ocean, with the pop of orange and yellows from the lichen that has grown amongst the rocks.
