Oliver and Lucas Tomkins, Light Breeze (JUNIOR 2020)

Whilst we were camping in the Great Western Woodlands, we decided to experiment with light trail painting to recreate the atmosphere of the expansive scenery, collaborating to manage the camera and lighting. After a few first attempts, we managed to use torches inside coloured plastic cups to capture the essence of the vast, flowing land around us in one image. We used the full moon and this fantastic stump – half dead, half alive – to capture the beauty and fragility of this seemingly endless landscape.
