Ann Parrott, Let Me Branch Out A Little (ENTRIES CLOSED - SOFT LIGHT)

An overcast day on Queensland's beautiful Sunshine Coast. Rather than photographing the scene as it appeared, I wanted to experiment with movement and create something more abstract and artistic. Using a small aperture of f/22 allowed me to achieve a longer handheld exposure, making it possible to use ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) to transform the overhanging tress over the water and rocks into flowing lines, textures, and colour. As the shutter remained open, I moved the camera deliberately, allowing it all to blend into a painterly interpretation of the landscape. One of the things I enjoy most about ICM photography is the balance between control and unpredictability. Every movement creates a different result, and no two images are ever exactly the same. With practice, I am becoming more confident in predicting how different camera movements will influence the final image, but there is still an element of surprise that makes the process exciting. For me, this photograph represents creativity, experimentation, and the joy of seeing a familiar scene in an entirely new way. Canon 7D. Lens: 18-250mm | f/22 | 2.5 sec | ISO 200 | focal length 51mm
