Timo Balk, Hide and Seek (July Theme: Nature's Colours)
In a densely forested area of this part of the Dandenong Ranges, I found some stunning yellow coloured Ginkgo trees. The Ginkgo, also known as the Maidenhair tree, is native to China and has distinctive butterfly-shaped leaves. As I was walking up and down a steep slope, I found it hard to find a composition. I wanted it somehow to interact with the surrounding trees. After a few not-so-inspiring shots, I decided to place the ginkgo behind a big, dark trunk. The ginkgo's branches are spreading out on each side like a shining star in the dark.
