Roger Hyland, Father and daughter going home (SINGLE SHOT 2024)
I am always looking for unusual people at tram stops and the deadpan expression of the girl in this photo caught my eye. I asked her father if I could take a photo. In the first phot I took, the father was looking away and it didn't look right so I asked him if he could look at me too and got the resulting image. It was interesting to me that it was the child's pose and expression which drew me at first but it becomes so much more when you see both together facing the camera so directly. His face and expression reminded me of a byzantine icon. They were both gone to get their tram as soon as the photo was taken so I had no opportunity to get their details.
