Pia Brady, Eye candy (September theme: Things that fly)

I often take walks past Luna Park and enjoy studying the shapes and shadows cast there at different times of day. On this sunny spring afternoon, I looked up and saw the Ferris wheel carriages suspended in the air above me. They were so bright and colourful, like dangling candies ready to be eaten. The shift in perspective prompts us to think about relativity; in my mind the Ferris wheel is joyful and full of movement, each carriage a tiny, flying boiled lolly. But in reality it looks over the water empty and still most of the time, just like the stalled pool redevelopment next door. This photo hasn't been edited.
