Sian Liddy, Ephemeral (October Theme: Patterns)

A master of camouflage, the giant cuttlefish adorns itself in ever changing textures. Their skin possesses a kaleidoscope of chromatophores designed to hypnotise prey or elude predators. This particular cuttlefish was nearing the end of its short life, cruising the shallows of the temperate reef as the mating season came to a close. I am transfixed by these intelligent, iconic underwater aliens and the beautiful, ephemeral patterns they create.
