Cyclone Gita brought devastation to many South Pacific Islands yet great joy to surfers on the South East Coast of Queensland. I shot this image at world famous surf spot, Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast. It depicts a brave surfer committed to an 8 to 10 foot wave generated by Cyclone Gita as bystanders watch in anticipation to see if the surfer negotiates the looming section in front of him.
