Gregory Lewis, After the fire (ENTRIES CLOSED - SOFT LIGHT)

I live close to the Ku-ring-gai National Park Sydney and I often walk the bush tracks and fire trails looking for interesting plants and the photo opportunities they present. Revisiting one particular fire trail I discovered the area had recently undergone a ‘fire hazard reduction burn’. I had never photographed the burnt and singed leaves of Eucalypt trees before so the opportunity presented itself and fortunately in pleasing light conditions. Ironically this was also my first outing with my second-hand Nikkor 200mm f4 lens I recently purchased. Technical details – Nikon D850 c/w Nikon 200mm f4D ED Micro lens mounted on a Vanguard tripod via lens collar mount. Exposure settings - 1/60 at f4.2 ISO 100. Manual mode + Pattern metering. Shot in ‘live view’, manual focus with focus peaking and electronic shutter activated. In-camera Picture Control – Camera Neutral. Only post processing was +24 increase in tex
