At the entry to the Fushimi Inari Taisha Sembon Torii in Kyoto while known for its Torii gates, one of the shrines leading to them was adorned with thousands and thousands of colourful origami cranes. In Japanese culture, it is believed that anyone with the patience and commitment to fold 1,000 origami cranes would be given good fortune and granted a wish.
