Video: How to sell photo prints in 2023
Many photographers dabble in selling the odd print, but have you ever thought of becoming more strategic in how you sell yours?
In this useful video by professional photographer Justin Mott, he breaks down his history of selling prints - first in a passive sale style where he offered prints for sale by simply emailing him, and later through a website with fixed pricing. Later, he explains how he chose an automated system that took care of the entire process from start to finish, but later ditched this too.
There's a few takeaways from the vid - the first is to keep things simple, a few prints at a few different sizes, and then regular rotating of the stock for sale.
The other is that ultimately, as Mott explains, networking is vital to success with print sales, regardless of whether you sell limited edition or just 'regular' work. You can't underestimate how important it is to have established networks if you want success with print sales, as this is where most of your business will inevitably come from.
