One key piece of advice that Nigel offers is to look beyond the fist composition that you create. He recommends walking around the scene while taking a video on your smartphone, which will reveal some alternative, and often better, way to compose your shots.
Something else that Nigel talks about is taking the time to observe how gift interacts with the land, and the surfaces of elements in the scene before you. He explains this really well by showing you images of that he taken of the same tree in different light.
