Production and photography agency, Sam I Am is offering free three-month mentorships to young women photographers.

The program, Chapter One, has been created to, “help give the very best young female talent out there a new beginning to their stories”.

Citing statistics that suggest the majority of photography students are female, while as many as 85% of photographers in some genres are male, the program's organisers say it's time for photographic images that inform our world are "created more equally by both men and women".

Chapter One will offer young women a hands-on, one-on-one experience within a commercial photography practice.

Successful applicants will be paired with a Sam I Am artist to gain invaluable knowledge via access to a range of diverse talent and skillsets – stylists, assistants, retouchers, producers, agency creatives and more.

The submission process is looking for young women with a visual story they want to tell, or a series they want to make.
Successful applicants will be guided through concept development and refinement, preproduction, shooting and post-production.

The aim is for the final series to be shown in an exhibition attended by industry creatives.
