Straight Shooter Photo Comp: The Winner!

Comments Comments

We're delighted to announce the winner of our Straight Shooter Photo Comp, run in partnership with our good friends at World Photo Adventures

Nearly 1,000 entries were received in the free competition, with the grand prize of a two-day personalised photo workshop with WPA's Darran Leal in his home town of Hervey Bay valued at $5,000. The overall winner is photographer Lee Cleland for her image Ancient Sentinels.

Lee Cleland's winning image, Ancient Sentinels, captured in the Flinders Ranges, SA.

For judge Darran Leal, the image is 'quintessentially Australian'.

"It uses great landscape techniques with late light. The trees help to tell the story in the foreground with a beautiful frame of the peaks as a backdrop. It is not overly processed, and the right lens and aperture was used to fully tell the story."

The competiton was run to celebrate Darran's 100 Straight Shooter columns in Australian Photography, and asked entrants to submit their best single-image capture of an Australian landscape.

A huge thanks to everyone who entered the competition, you can see the other top finalists below.
