Sony has shown off the Alpha NEX-7, the new flagship model in its growing range of E-mount cameras.
Aimed at advanced enthusiast photographers the camera shares many of the same features as Sony’s high-end Alpha A77 (announced the same day), but in a considerably smaller package.
Key features include a 24.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, the world’s highest resolution OLED viewfinder (2.4 million dots), a magnesium alloy body and a tilting LCD that can be angled from 90° up to 45º down.
The layout has changed slightly from the NEX-5 with two new dials on the top deck that can be customised to control multiple functions, with a button next to the shutter to cycle through different functions.
Maximum shooting speed is 10 frames per second. The NEX will be available in September for $1799 (body only) or $1999 (with Sony 18-55mm lens).
