Samsung has announced a new mirrorless APS-C camera, the NX1. The new model boasts a 28-megapixel backside illuminated C-MOS sensor and 205 hybrid autofocus points covering 90 percent of this sensor. Most impressively it can capture full-size JPEG and RAW files at a blisteringly fast frame rate of 15-frames a second. The NX1 can also capture 4K video at 24 frames per second while smoothly focus-following a moving subject.

"The NX1 camera represents latest pinnacle of Samsung’s research, development and innovation in photographic technology," said Craig Gillespie, Head of Digital Imaging, Samsung Electronics Australia. "It will provide passionate photographers with amazing photographic capabilities and features that we feel will change people’s understanding of our camera portfolio."

Aimed at advanced photographers the camera features a weatherproof magnesium-alloy body, a 2.36-million dot OLED electronic viewfinder (with a lag time of just 5-milliseconds) and 3in (76.2mm) tilting Super AMOLED touchscreen display.
Other key features include built-in WiFi, Bluetooth and USB 3.0 also for fast and convenient connectivity to most devices.
Samsung is reportedly working on new premium S-Series lenses for NX cameras, to add to it's existing lineup which includes the 16-50mm F2-F2.8 S and 50-150mm F2.8 S ED OIS.

The NX1 body retails for $1899, while the 16-50mm f2-2.8 retails for $1499 and the 50-150mm f2.8 retails for $1999.
