Two veteran photographers, educator Les Walkling and professional shooter Tony Hewitt, will head a week-long workshop on Queensland's Orpheus Island later in the year.

The event will be based around Orpheus Island's research station, which has teaching facilities. Industry veteran Les Walkling has worked throughout the photographic industry and is an expert in all forms of photography, as well as software programs. Participants will learn about Photoshop and Lightroom, colour management, and fine-art printing. Walkling has a vast background in professional and university education and fine-art photography. His work has been featured in major public galleries like the National Gallery of Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

This is the ninth year he has presented this workshop, which is a six-day all-inclusive event designed for high-level enthusiasts and professionals. The James Cook University Orpheus Research Station is a first-class teaching facility, and the tropical islands provide many photo opportunities.

Tony Hewitt's work includes portraiture, landscapes and fine-art photography. He has exhibited within Australia and overseas, and has been consistently invited to critique and judge both nationally and internationally since 1995. Hewitt runs many workshops and seminars for both professionals and enthusiasts, including annual workshops with other professionals. He has been invited to host the annual 'Nikon Event' conference in Australia since it's inception in 2010, and has also been the Master of Ceremonies at the Australian Professional Photography Awards since 2002.

The workshop includes lectures, demonstrations and presentations each morning, backed up with "hands-on" work after lunch and into the evening. Aspects of fine-art printing, advanced editing, camera craft, raw processing, pictorial design, colour management, marketing and business planning are features. The pair will be supported by four experienced tutors to ensure that the knowledge participants is acquiring is immediately assimilated.

This workshop will run from October 7 to 13 and is accredited with the AIPP Nikon CPD program. AIPP Members will earn 50 points for attending. All transfers ex Townsville, meals, accommodation and materials are included. Further enquiries call ph:(07) 4725 4860 or email events@leswalkling.com.
