Leica Galleries opens new exhibition with Steve McCurry and Jessie Brinkman Evans
The Leica Galleries in Melbourne and Sydney have launched a joint exhibition featuring the work of photographers Steve McCurry and Australian photographer Jessie Brinkman Evans.

Part of Leica’s global In Conversation series, the exhibition pairs established and emerging photographers in monthly exhibitions across twelve international locations, with the intention of combining the work of photographers whose work complements each other.

McCurry, known for his long-standing career as a documentary photographer who captured the iconic image Afghan Girl, contributed a selection of photographs drawn from more than four decades of work.
His images focus on shared human moments and cultural depth across diverse regions.

Responding to McCurry’s work, Brinkman Evans presents photographs from a remote Arctic community.
She says her images explore the tension between cultural continuity and geographic isolation, highlighting daily life and emotional nuance within the community.
While balancing her time between creating editorial and documentary images alongside clients ranging from Visit Greenland, Newfoundland & Labrador Tourism, Conde Nast Traveller, and Broadsheet, she has spent nearly a decade photographing the Arctic.

The exhibition is open now, and runs until November at the Leica Gallery Melbourne, 267 Little Collins St, and Leica Gallery Sydney, 455 George St.
