Leica announces record profits (again)
Leica Camera AG has once again announced strong results for the past financial year, with turnover rising 7.6 percent to €596 million ($1,057 billion AUD), up from €554 million the year before.
The company says the growth came from its core camera business as well as its expanding role in the smartphone market.

As expected, Cameras and lenses continued to be Leica’s main source of success, but new ventures also played a part.
These included “Smart Projection” home cinema projectors, lifestyle products such as its watches and eyewear, and additions to its sports optics range. Sports optics held steady in a tough market and remains Leica’s second-strongest division.
CEO Matthias Harsch also credited the results to constant innovation and the expansion of Leica’s global sales network.
He said demand for high-quality cameras and a strong brand experience is growing worldwide. Highlights of the year included the launch of the Leica Q3 compact camera, the SL3 and SL3-S system cameras, the D-Lux 8, and the display-free M11-D rangefinder.
Leica also introduced the Leica Cine Play 1 projector and the Leica Lux photo app, which has already been downloaded more than one million times.
Leica’s partnership with smartphone maker Xiaomi has also been central to its growth. The Xiaomi 14T series, launched in September 2024, and the Xiaomi 15 series, released in March 2025, both feature Leica Summilux lenses.
Growth was recorded across all key regions. Europe saw the biggest rise at 7.6 percent, helped by an 11.4 percent increase in Germany. Asia grew by 7.3 percent, while North America was up 6.2 percent.
