Expanding its range of high-end X-series interchangeable-lens cameras, Fujifilm has unveiled the X-T1, a high-speed mirrorless camera with a 16-megapixel X-Trans CMOS II sensor, built-in Wi-Fi, Full HD and a new larger electrical viewfinder, which Fujifilm claims is, “almost indistinguishable from an optical finder”.

The new model features an EXR Processor II, which Fujifilm says is more than twice as fast as its previous generation processor. The result is a rapid-fire AF speed of just 0.08 seconds and a continuous shooting speed of eight frames per second. When it’s released in the X-T1 will be one of the first cameras compatible with SDXC UHS-II format memory cards, increasing the data write speed in continuous mode to about twice that of a conventional card in RAW shooting mode.

The viewfinder on the X-T1 appears for the first time on a Fujifilm camera and boasts a high-resolution 2.36 million-dot OLED display and a magnification ratio of 0.77x, the highest of any digital camera according to Fujifilm.

Other key features of the X-T1 include:
• Full HD video recording
• ISO 200-6400, expandable to ISO 100-51200
• Simultaneous focus peaking and digital split image for EVF focusing
• Independent ISO, shutter speed and exposure compensation controls
• 3” (76mm) tilting LCD (1.04 million dot resolution)
• Built-in Wi-Fi with smartphone or tablet remote control
• Clip-on external flash (included)
• Water and dust resistant body sealing

The camera is expected to go on sale in Australia in early March. Pricing has not been announced.
