Canon 5D Mark I vs. 5D Mark IV - 13 years of technology, but is there much difference?

Still highly regarded today, the venerable Canon 5D was a hugely popular camera on its release way back in 2005. But how does the 13-year-old DSLR compare to the fourth-generation 5D?

In this great video by Photographer Pablo Strong, he explains why the 5D is still his first choice for street portraits, even when compared with the powerhouse 5D Mark IV and fast 50mm 1.2L lens.

A quick look on the local Australian eBay shows you can buy a 5D for as little as $650, compared to nearly $5,000 for the 5D Mark IV

As Strong says, the original 5D is an excellent choice for beginners because it's such a no-frills package, allowing photographers to focus on the basics of shutter speed, aperture and ISO without the distractions in later 5D models. And the images? Well, we'll let you be the judge.

What do you think 5D or 5D IV? and do you still use a 5D? Let us know in the comments.
