TAFE NSW has become the first and only training provider in NSW to offer Adobe certification for students and businesses.

The new initiative means there is now a pathway in the state for photographers and other creatives to become an Adobe Certified Associate, an industry-recognised credential that demonstrates proficiency in Adobe digital skills.

As well as the certification, TAFE NSW is currently the only training provider in the Vocational Education Sector to provide students with free Adobe licensing as part of their training.

TAFE NSW Nepean provides training courses for Adobe Creative Cloud software including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Animate or Dreamweaver. Students can then also sit the Adobe Certified Associate exam through the provider.

TAFE NSW Photography and Screen Media Head Teacher Craig Daalmeijer-Power said achieving Adobe certification is a valuable competitive edge for creatives in an industry that is expected to see 53,000 new job openings over the next five years.

“Particularly for freelancers who work in the advertising, design or communications area, Adobe certification is one way to stand out to potential clients and prove that you are keeping up with the latest technology and tools in the industry,” he said.

According to Adobe research, more than 80 per cent of advertising will be automated by 2020.
