This is a great location and one I think you could spend a lot of time at.
I know you mentioned that you would have preferred the water to be still for this photo, but here is the fun part… I don't think you need the water in the picture.
If I was having a play with this image I think I would simply straighten the image slightly and crop the water out of the frame. The remaining image looks good on its own with just that hint of tree jutting out.
By including those tide marks near the bottom of the image, people are soon going to imagine that there is water nearby in this scene.
If you get the chance, head back to this location and don't be scared to do some cropping (preferably in camera!).
