Venus Optics announces two ultra-wide Macro Probe Zoom lenses
Venus Optics has announced two new versions of its distinctive macro probe zoom lenses: the Laowa 15–24mm T8 and Laowa 15–35mm T12.
The 15–35mm T12 is now the widest macro probe zoom lens available, offering an unusually broad focal range while keeping the signature ultra-wide 15mm starting point.
These unique lenses are designed to capture extreme close-ups with a wide-angle perspective, producing images and video that standard macro lenses cannot achieve.
Their tubular design, waterproof construction, and modular system allow photographers to change shooting angles with direct-view, 35°, 90°, or periscope modules.
The 15–24mm T8 focuses on maximizing light capture, whereas the 15–35mm T12 prioritises zoom flexibility. Both lenses have a minimum working distance of just 5 mm and feature nine-bladed apertures, 90° focus rotation, and a front diameter of 32 mm.
They also incorporate 37 elements arranged in 26 groups, making them among the most complex macro optics on the market.
Although the lenses are mainly targeted at videographers, they can also be used for still photography.
They are manual focus only but compatible with Canon EF, Canon RF, Nikon Z, Sony E, and Leica L mounts, and can be paired with a 0.7× focal reducer for APS-C or Super35 sensors.
The Laowa 15-24mm T8 and 15-35mm T12 Macro Probe Zoom lenses are available now, starting at $3,499 USD ($5,000 AUD), up to a whopping $21,999 USD depending on your choice of module.
You can find out more about the new products on Laowa's website.
