Samyang has announced the 35mm F1.4 MK2 Auto Focus UMC II lens for Sony E-Mount.

The AF 35mm F1.4 FE MK2 is the second edition of the company's AF 35mm F1.4 FE, a lens the company says, 'has been loved by many people since Samyang released its first Autofocus lens in 2016.'

The lens features one ASP (aspherical) and two HR (high refractive) elements, and also features Samyang’s Linear Stepping Motor (STM) for fast, precise, quiet AF and tracking. Compared to the previous AF 35mm F1.4 FE, the new AF 35mm F1.4 FE MK2 is optimised for video shooting by minimising vibration and noise.

The AF 35mm F1.4 FE MK2 has a nine-blade circular aperture design and a minimum focal distance of 29cm.

The 35mm F1.4 FE MK2 features a customisable Focus hold button and Custom switch, which can be set to allow adjustment of the aperture silently by rotating the focus ring. Using Samyang's optional Lens Station, it's also possible to assign the button to just about any mode, with Samyang confirming more functions will be added through firmware updates in the future.

Finally, the AF 35mm F1.4 FE MK2 offers better weathersealing - now in four locations - to protect the lens from light rain, snow, and dust. The lens has a 'stylish' silver ring, and comes in a matte finish.

Set to be released on April 8, the new lens is available for pre-order now direct from local distributor Maxxum for $1,249.
