The new 35mm shares a similar size and weight to its siblings, the wider 24mm f/1.8 lens that debuted back in August, as well as the earlier 50mm f/1.8 and 85mm f/1.8 lenses.

All of the lenses in the series have a common positioning of controls for ease of use, a similar size that makes it swifter to switch between lenses, and a common barrel diameter (67mm) that allow filters to be shared.

The Lumix 35mm F1.8 S lens weighs in at 295g, with a 73.6mm diameter and a length of 82mm. It's comprised of 11 elements in nine groups, including three aspherical elements and three Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) elements. Panasonic says the aspherical elements help to ensure sharp image quality across the frame, while the ED elements help suppress chromatic aberration.

Like the others in the series, the lens features a linear AF motor for fast and silent autofocusing performance. The 35mm F1.8 S lens also supports Lumix cameras' high-speed contrast-detection AF system with sensor drive at up to 240fps.

The Lumix S Series 35mm f/1.8 lens will be available in December, and has an RRP of $1099 AUD. You can find out more at Panasonic.
