Insta360 launches Antigravity, a new drone brand focused on 360° aerial imaging

After years of speculation, Insta360 has officially entered the drone market with the launch of a new brand it has called Antigravity.

While no drone has been released yet, the company says its first product is coming soon, and it is aiming to do more than follow in the footsteps of DJI and other established manufacturers.

The company says Antigravity will focus on 360-degree aerial capture, a natural progression for Insta360. The company says its mission is to “redefine aerial exploration and storytelling.”

The first Antigravity drone is expected to feature 8K resolution with a full 360-degree field of view. It will weigh under 250 grams, which means it can be flown more freely in many regions.

And, unlike past attempts to mount 360-degree cameras on conventional drones, this model is being purpose-built around 260-degree capture from the start.

In addition, Antigravity drones will also include safety features such as payload detection to help prevent tampering and misuse. The company says it is committed to creating a product ecosystem with distinctive design, thoughtful features, and a clear focus on storytelling (whatever that means!)

The timing of the announcement is notable. DJI has recently teased its own entry into the 360 camera space. But while DJI’s approach appears incremental, Insta360 seems to be offering a fundamentally different drone experience.

The first Antigravity drone is expected to launch in August. More information is available now on the Antigravity website.
