Fujifilm announces X-S10 and XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR lens

Fujifilm has announced the FUJIFILM X-S10, a brand new mirrorless digital camera, as well as the FUJINON XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR ultra-wide zoom lens.

Fujifilm X-S10

The X-S10 is aimed at a new segment of the market for Fujifilm, and is built around a 26 Megapixel APS-C sensor. It appears to be a cross between Fujifilm’s flagship X-T4 and the now discontinued X-H1.

Build-wise, the X-S10 has a magnesium alloy construction without weather sealing, and visually, looks much like the X-T4.

The similarities don't end there however, with the new X-S10 featuring the same X-Trans processor as the X-T4, and also inheriting the same (but smaller) in-body 5-axis Image Stabilisation mechanism from that camera. It's 30% smaller than the one in the X-T4.

On the rear of the camera is a Vari-angle LCD monitor, 3" in size with a resolution of 1.04 million dots, and there's a 2.36 million dot EVF with 100fps refresh rate.

The X-S10 gets the same autofocus system as the X-T4, which means 8fps mechanical and up to 30fps with the electronic shutter. There's human, but no animal eye AF.

Video features max out at 4K 4:2:2: 10-Bit external, and there's a 30 min record time limit with 4K30. There's also a microphone input and headphone connection via adapter.

Another noteworthy feature is the improved film simulations. users can choose between 18 different modes that will deliver digital versions of analog film shots.

ETERNA Bleach Bypass is one of these film simulation modes, which has been designed to help produce de-saturated and high-contrast images.

XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR lens

Also announced is Fuji's newest wide-angle lens, the XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR lens, which is designed to be an updated version of the original XF10-24mm OIS lens.

Equivalent to 15-36mm in full-frame terms, the new lens features an 'enhanced' aperture ring with Auto-position lock function and F-stop scale function, as well as a new gyro sensor to manage image stabilisation.

Physically, the lens is designed to have improved weather resistance capabilities than the model it replaces, and will weigh less too (just - by 25g).

Available from mid-November this year, the Fujifilm X-S10 has an RRP of $1,749. The XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR lens will hit the market in late November this year and it will sell for RRP $1,749.
