DJI launches Osmo Action 3 camera

DJI has announced announced its latest action camera, the Osmo Action 3.

Standout features include a new 4K/120p video capture mode, but there's also USB-C Power Delivery charging and longer battery life, with DJI claiming the new Action 3 can record 1080/30p video for up to a whopping 160 minutes.

The action camera is built around a 1/1.7 (7.4 x 5.6mm) sensor and a 155º field of view. The Osmo Action 3 features dual touchscreens on both the front and rear of the device, a three-mic stereo array and Wi-Fi livestreaming at up to 1080/30p. 

The action camera's onboard electronic stabilisation is powered by DJI’s RockSteady 3.0 technology. This aims to reduce camera shake in all directions. In addition, DJI's new HorizonSteady feature further helps to eliminate camera shake while also correcting for horizon stabilisation, even through full 360º rotations. It is in addition to the existing HorizonBalancing feature which corrects horizon tilts within +/-45º with 4K/60p video.

Other features include five custom shooting modes, Voice Prompts for checking the camera settings without needing to remove the camera, Voice Control for changing shooting modes and settings, and a number of timelapse modes.

The Osmo Action's bigger battery means longer real-world usage, and charging the battery is also quicker thanks to built-in USB-C Power Delivery, which can charge the battery to 80% in as little as 18 minutes with a 30W charger (and 100% in 50 minutes).

Finally, as you'd expect, DJI have also launched a number of accessories for the Osmo Action 3, including a waterproof case, an extended-power battery, lens protectors, extension rods and more.

The Osmo Action 3 Standard Combo retails for $519 and includes Osmo Action 3, one Osmo Action 3 Extreme Battery, the Osmo Action 3 Horizontal-Vertical Protective Frame, the Osmo Action 3 Quick-Release Adapter Mount, and the Osmo Flat Adhesive Base.

The Osmo Action 3 Adventure Combo retails for $719 and includes Osmo Action 3, three Osmo Action 3 Extreme Batteries, the Osmo Action 3 Horizontal-Vertical Protective Frame, two Osmo Action 3 Quick-Release Adapter Mounts, one Osmo Flat Adhesive Base, and the Osmo Action 3 Multifunctional Battery Case.
