The new camera offers high-resolution video, stabilisation, and dual-lens versatility, and with its release, DJI has entered a competitive segment of the camera market traditionally led by companies like Insta360 and GoPro.

The Osmo 360 features a new 1-inch square HDR sensor. According to DJI, the square format captures more usable image area than conventional rectangular sensors. The camera is capable of recording 8K video at 30 frames per second and capturing 120-megapixel still images. It has a pixel size of 2.4 microns and a wide f/1.9 aperture.

DJI states that the camera provides 13.5 stops of dynamic range, which helps preserve detail in both bright and dark areas. These specifications are designed to improve image quality in both daylight and low-light environments.

While the Osmo 360 is built for immersive 360-degree capture, it can also be used as a standard action camera. In single-lens mode, it records up to 5K at 60 frames per second or 4K at 120 frames per second. A “Boost” mode allows for a 170-degree field of view.

The camera weighs 183 grams and is rated for use in temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for outdoor and action use.

The Osmo 360 includes DJI’s HorizonSteady stabilization, which keeps footage level even when the camera is in motion. It also offers gesture and voice controls for hands-free operation. The built-in software can automatically remove the selfie stick from footage, making third-person perspectives easier to achieve without post-production.

Users can shoot up to 100 minutes of video in 8K resolution, or up to 280 minutes using the optional Battery Extension Rod.

As you might expect, the camera supports DJI’s accessory system, including microphones, mounts, and extension rods. The OsmoAudio system allows users to connect two microphones without the need for a separate receiver.

The DJI Osmo 360 is now available in two packages (Standard Combo: $759 and Adventure Combo: $989), and is available to order from store.dji.com/au and authorised retail partners.
