DJI announces new compact wearable action cam: The DJI Nano
DJI has released the Osmo Nano, a compact wearable action camera designed to be mounted on hats, helmets, lanyards, or even pet collars that looks set to compete with Insta360's Go lineup.
The Osmo Nano is the smallest action camera in DJI’s lineup, weighing 52 grams and measuring 57 by 29 by 28 millimetres. It uses a dual-sided magnetic mounting system and is waterproof to 10 metres without a housing.
When paired with the Multifunctional Vision Dock, the camera gains IPX4 splash resistance and can be controlled remotely using the dock’s built-in OLED touchscreen.
The camera features a 1/1.3-inch sensor and a new image processor that delivers 13.5 stops of dynamic range. It records 4K video at up to 60 frames per second and slow motion at 120 frames per second. It also supports 10-bit colour and D-Log M, providing flexibility in post-production.
Other features include a 143-degree field of view, a SuperNight mode for low-light shooting, and stabilisation technologies such as HorizonBalancing and RockSteady 3.0.
Audio is handled by dual microphones for stereo recording, with support for DJI’s wireless microphone transmitters through OsmoAudio.
The Multifunctional Vision Dock doubles as a charging hub, remote trigger, and file transfer station with transfer speeds of up to 600 megabytes per second. It can charge the camera to 80 percent in 20 minutes.
Battery life allows for up to 200 minutes of recording at 1080p and 24 frames per second.
Available now from the usual places, the Standard Combo is priced at $529 for the 64GB version and $589 for the 128GB version.
Each package includes the Multifunctional Vision Dock, a magnetic hat clip, a magnetic lanyard, a protective case, a USB-C cable, and a ball-joint adapter mount. Additional accessories such as ND filters, lens covers, and headbands are sold separately.
