Though I was initially disappointed by the overcast sunrise I had woken up so painfully early to shoot, I realized when I got the photos home how much the monotone sky brought out those things that made the scene so interesting. Where a brilliant sunrise may have directed some of the attention toward the color, the conditions here force the viewer to observe the sheer clarity and stillness of the scene without distraction, f
