Scott Kelleher, WE ARE THE GHOSTS - A HABIT OF DEPRAVITY (B&W 2023)
Last year was my second and final visit to Saint John's Orphanage before it was demolished. A building rich in history, some of which is dark. Proclaimed as one of the most haunted places in the world, the building certainly possessed an energy of it's own. On my first visit some years prior I had no knowledge of this abandoned building I was exploring. I came across a poem scribed into a wall; A HABIT OF DEPRAVITY, "Defogla's new patronage, All the children freed from the orphanage. Brutalised neglected and starved to death. Let them show you why. Let them show you how the nuns would lie." On entering the property second time around I asked these kids were there any ghosts? their reply was, WE ARE THE GHOSTS.
