Julie Kenny, Tree of Life (April theme: Shoot a magazine cover)
This photograph of a fallen tree is reminiscent of the Tree of Life. The aerial perspective allows the viewer to observe that the ground below is webbed with a complex network of crisscrossing sheep tracks. The trails lead in many different directions, weaving around a majestic fallen tree. From this vantage point, the viewer can see small pools of water that have collected in the sheep tracks, reflecting the vibrant blue of the sky above. The overall effect of this image is one of renewal, harmony and interconnectedness. The organic patterns of the sheep tracks flow around the tree, which provides a sense of cyclical change and renewal. It's a reminder of the beauty and complexity of nature, and the interconnection of all things, beginnings and endings, the cycling of life. This image was created on Menang/Minang Boodja.
