Nicholas Fantini, The World’s Most Dangerous Road (February theme: Aerial)
Bolivia's Death Road has always terrified and attracted me at the same time. This grimly known road was built by Paraguayan prisoners of war back in the 1930s, and till 50th was the only link between La Paz and the Yungas region of Bolivia. A combination of single track, terrifying 900m high cliffs, rainy weather, limited visibility, rockfalls, and lack of guardrails, has resulted that 200 to 300 drivers were killed yearly along this road. My idea of flying over this World’s Most Dangerous Road was to show why did it gain its name and reputation!
