Jamie Karpas, The Waiting Line (OCEAN - Entries close 30 November 2026)
Taken at Tamarama Beach along the Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk, this image captures a lone surfer waiting beyond the break as waves repeatedly fold into the shoreline. I was drawn to the quiet contrast between the constant movement of the ocean and the stillness of the person within it. For me, the photograph reflects a familiar part of Australia’s coastal identity—patience, respect for the sea, and the moments of calm that exist before the next wave arrives.
