Rain White, The Hottest Summer on record (September theme: What Matters to Me )

As the impact of global warming moves from the pages of the news globally into our backyards locally, we are connected further because of our shared habitation and concern for our home. The impact of climate change is making dire sweeping changes to our beloved planet. In a small corner of the world on the fringes of Melbourne lies the Dandenong Ranges, in which the hottest summer on record is pictorially recorded in Kalorama Park. As we wander into the forest the native trees struggle in the heat and the impacts of drought are seen in this triptych, on closer inspection on the canopy floor as the leaves brown and die, dire signs indeed. A call to action in the same location as the commemorative plaque is located for May Moon MBE, founder of the Save the Dandenong’s League who raised awareness of threats to the natural environment.
