Kathryn Blumke, The Butterfly (SINGLE SHOT 2023)

Since the death of my sister in law, I have had many experiences with butterflies. I has an unexpected morning in Sydney after my flight back to Brisbane from Sydney was cancelled due to winds. To pass the time I had a walk down by the Opera House. As I looked up the stairs of the Opera house, I quickly took this image of a woman in a brilliant white fabric dress fluttering in the wind like the wings of a beautiful butterfly. The opera house too looked like butterfly wings. This experience was transforming for me.
