Vanessa Haines, The Bride (ENTRIES CLOSED - December theme: Your favourite shot of '25)
This beautiful Church is called Hallgrimskirkja and it is the very centre of Reykjavik downtown. The architecture was inspired by the trap rocks, mountains and glaciers of Iceland's landscape, despite its impressive architecture I found the cross on top of the church calling me, as someone of deep faith and belief in Christ I found this simple photo so beautiful as my faith is based on the wholeness of Christ forgiveness and it truly is something so simple, but so deep and complex because of the distractions and our objects and rejection of who he is. Which is why I named this The Bride because in scripture the Church is the bride of Christ, Christ loves, and cares for the church like His Bride and it a statement of His love, care and protection of the Church, who is made up of His people. This may not be one of my best photographs composition wise, but it's my favourite as it reminds me of how simple and uncomplicated God's love is for His people and despite my failures and set backs in my walk as a Christian I know He loves me and is setting things in place to help deepen my faith and obedience to Him as a loving Father and Lord.
