Clare Day, That One Branch (ANIMAL & NATURE 2023)

For as long as I’ve lived in my home, a couple of decades at least, I’ve been watching this branch on a striking nearby gum tree. All sorts of local bird life have enjoyed it over the years, at dawn, dusk and in between. It’s been the subject of quarrels and meetings, lookouts and snoozes. And then one day, very sadly and out of the blue, it’s gone.
