Marty Strecker, Tawny Frog Mouth Owl (April theme: Detail)
In our back yard, we have some very old and large Radiata pine trees, which the White and Black cockatoos love, as well as many other birds...including a little family of Tawny Frog Mouth Owls. When you get close, they crane their necks out and stay extremely still...and they look exactly like the bark the pine tree...so very hard to spot. This one ended up on the ground and just sat and watched as I inched closer.....
