Jan Breckwoldt, Steelwool Reflection (August theme: Reflections)

After a failed attempt 4 years ago due to the wrong steel wool, I finally gave this technique another go this year. Having learnt from my mistake I purchased the right steel wool grade and drove out to Norah Head Lighthouse, far away from anything I could set on fire. I found this puddle with the lighthouse reflection and set up my gear. Timing the shot was the trickiest part as I was all alone so I had to work with the self timer, an intervelometer and me counting seconds in my head to start lighting the steel wool and spinning it just before the exposure started but not too late to not run out of fire. After a few shots I had figured out the settings to get enough detail in the background and finally ended up with the shot I wanted
