Gretel Le Lievre, So you think i'm a stick? (April Theme: Garden)

As you look through those big bulging eyes, and long legs, this devious and cunning Australian stick mantis (Archimantis latistyla) is sitting motionless attempting to impersonate the Indian Hawthorne shrub. This amazing creature is a determined predator, whilst anticipating its preys every move through stalking it in a hidden environment. This image, taken on a property located in Crystal Creek, just 20 minutes away from Mt Warning in northern NSW was shot using a macro lens on a Canon EOS2000D.
